Description of the Water ModelThe model was designed to be user-friendly with users entering their data and assumptions to calculate the most profitable utilization of their water resource. User defined scenarios can be saved for later review and revision. Water Balance by Crop: Irrigation water needs are calculated and compared to the user's available water. Annual Acreage Adjustment: Based on the user's certified irrigated acreage and allocation, the model calculates the maximum irrigated acreage based on crop water use or evapotranspiration (ET). Water Use Plan: Users develop a crop plan or rotation, and budget their irrigation water to balance allotted water with crop water use for the allocation period. Enterprise Profit & Loss worksheets: User income and expense data is used to determine enterprise profitability and evaluate alternatives. Profit & Loss Summary: Compares up to 9 alternative enterprises. A mix of enterprises may be used to maximize profitability while complying with the user's water allocation. |
